Common Core standards by grade
We mapped every Common Core standard for math and English language arts, kindergarten to grade 8, to the KidUniversity lessons that teach it, and we show where we fall short. Use these pages to see what your child is learning, or to plan around them in your homeschool.
Math: Common Core alignment
Our math courses for kindergarten to grade 8 are mapped to the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. 227 of 229 standards are taught and practiced in our lessons, and 2 are partly covered. Grades 2–8 math follows the unit sequence of Illustrative Mathematics, a curriculum written for the Common Core.

Reading and writing: skills by grade
For English language arts we don't claim alignment. Of 373 Common Core ELA standards for kindergarten to grade 8, 198 are taught and practiced in our Reading, Writing and English courses, 135 are partly covered and 40 aren't covered. Reading, phonics, grammar and vocabulary are strong. Writing whole essays and speaking and listening with others can only partly be practiced in an app, so plan writing on paper and conversations at home.

How we mapped it
We read each standard and matched it to the units and lessons that teach it, by their topics and content. Covered means a lesson or unit teaches the skill and gives practice on it. Partly covered means only part of the standard is taught, or it's taught but can't be fully practiced in the app (for example, writing a whole essay or speaking in a discussion). Not covered means no lesson in that grade teaches it. High school, science and social studies aren't mapped yet.
