Terms of use
The plain-English rules for using KidUniversity. Please read them with our privacy policy, which explains what we collect and how we protect it.
Last updated: October 27, 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
KidUniversity (the website at kiduniversity.net, the web app at app.kiduniversity.net and the KidUniversity apps) is owned and operated by Arron Pinkney, an individual, at PO Box 155, Edgemoor, SC 29712, USA. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Arron Pinkney, doing business as KidUniversity, and "you" means the parent or guardian who creates or uses a KidUniversity account.
By creating an account or using KidUniversity, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use KidUniversity.
2. Accounts are for parents and guardians
- A KidUniversity account must be created and owned by a parent or legal guardian who is 18 or older. When you create the account, you confirm that you are.
- You add each child to your family account as a learner, with a first name or nickname and a grade. You are responsible for the learners you add and for everything done in your account.
- Keep your password private, and use the grown-ups question and your password to keep settings, purchases and consent choices away from children. Tell us right away at support@kiduniversity.net if you think someone else has used your account.
- Give us a real email address you check, so we can confirm your account, send consent requests and reach you about your account.
3. Children use KidUniversity with a grown-up in charge
KidUniversity is made for children and teens to use under the supervision of their parent or guardian. You decide which features each child can use, how long they use KidUniversity and which grade they study. Features that collect what a child types or uploads, such as Ask Hoot and My Schoolwork, stay off until you give permission by email, and you can turn them off again at any time. How we handle children's information is explained in our privacy policy.
4. Free features and KidUniversity Plus
Unit 1 of every course, the check-up and parent reports are free. KidUniversity Plus unlocks everything else for the whole family. Current prices are on our pricing page; today they are $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year, in US dollars, for one family account.
- Where you buy it. Plus is sold on the web, through our secure checkout (payments are processed by our payment providers; we never see your full card details). One Plus subscription covers every learner in your family account, on every device you sign in on.
- Automatic renewal. Plus is a subscription. It renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and your card is charged the then-current price for the next period, until you cancel. We'll show the price and the renewal period before you subscribe, and we'll tell you in advance if the price of your plan changes.
- Free trial. New subscribers on the web get a 1-week free trial when it's offered. The trial is shown at checkout. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and your card is charged for the plan you chose. If you cancel before it ends, you aren't charged.
- How to cancel. Sign in at app.kiduniversity.net, open Grown-ups, and in KidUniversity Plus choose Manage or cancel subscription. You can also email us. When you cancel, Plus stays on until the end of the period you already paid for and then doesn't renew. Step-by-step help.
- Refunds. 14-day money-back guarantee: if you are not happy, ask within 14 days of any charge (monthly or yearly, including the first charge after a free trial and each renewal) and we will refund that charge in full. Email us from your account email with the subject "Refund"; refunds go back to the original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days, and Plus ends as soon as the refund is made, so you lose access for the rest of that monthly or yearly period. After 14 days, charges are not refundable, but you can cancel at any time and keep Plus until the end of the period you already paid for. If the law where you live gives you more rights, we will honor them. Purchases made earlier through the App Store or Google Play are refunded by Apple or Google under their own rules. To ask about a charge, email support@kiduniversity.net.
- Subscriptions bought earlier in an app store. If you bought Plus through the App Store or Google Play before payments moved to the web, that subscription is billed, renewed, cancelled and refunded by Apple or Google under their terms until it ends.
- Taxes and failed payments. Prices may include or add taxes where the law requires. If a payment fails, Plus may stop until it's paid.
5. Using KidUniversity the right way
KidUniversity is for personal, family and homeschool learning. You agree, and you'll ask your children, not to:
- share your account outside your household, resell access, or use KidUniversity to run a school, tutoring business or classroom without our written permission;
- copy, scrape, download in bulk, or republish lessons, questions, books, videos or other content, except for printing reports and records for your own family or homeschool;
- upload or type anything unlawful, hateful, sexual, violent or harassing, anything that isn't yours to share, or another person's private information;
- try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or get around KidUniversity's security, parental gate, limits or payments, or use bots or automated tools with it;
- use KidUniversity in any way that breaks the law or harms other people.
If we see this kind of use, we may remove the content, limit a feature, or suspend the account (see section 9).
6. AI help from Professor Hoot
Ask Hoot and My Schoolwork use artificial intelligence (Claude, made by Anthropic) to explain ideas, help with homework step by step and make practice questions. Hoot is built to teach, not to hand over answers.
- It can be wrong. AI answers are usually right but can contain mistakes. They are educational help for learning, not a replacement for a teacher, and not professional advice of any kind (for example medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice).
- Check important things. Please check anything that matters, especially for graded work, and use the Report button to tell us about a wrong or unsuitable answer.
- Schoolwork rules. Follow your child's school's rules on outside help. KidUniversity doesn't complete assignments or tests for a child.
- Your choices. These features stay off until you give permission, and you can read, delete or turn them off at any time, as described in our privacy policy.
7. Content, ownership and licenses
- Ours. KidUniversity's lessons, questions, reading passages, original stories, Professor Hoot, artwork, animations, design, software and the KidUniversity, EarlyU and TeenU names belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable permission to use them through KidUniversity for your family's learning while your account is in good standing.
- Credited works. Some library books, recordings, videos and images are in the public domain or used under open licenses (such as Creative Commons) or with permission. They're credited in the app, for example under "About this book", and stay under their own licenses. Third-party names and trademarks, such as SAT® and ACT®, belong to their owners, who aren't affiliated with KidUniversity and don't endorse it.
- Yours. Your family's questions, uploads and progress stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to run KidUniversity for you, as described in our privacy policy. We don't sell them or use them for ads.
- Ideas. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve KidUniversity without owing you anything.
8. Changes to KidUniversity
We keep improving KidUniversity, so courses, features and content may be added, changed or removed. Some features may be unavailable at times for maintenance or because of problems outside our control. If we ever stop offering Plus, we'll tell subscribers in advance.
9. Ending your account
- You can stop using KidUniversity and delete your account at any time, right in the app. Deleting your account removes your family's data as described in our privacy policy. Deleting your account doesn't by itself cancel a subscription bought earlier through Apple or Google; cancel it there too.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts children or other people at risk, or is used for fraud, after telling you why when we reasonably can.
10. Disclaimers
We work hard to make KidUniversity accurate, safe and available, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including any implied promises of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, and we don't promise that KidUniversity will always be available, error-free or that it will produce particular learning, test or school results. KidUniversity doesn't replace a school, a teacher, or professional advice. Requirements for homeschooling vary by state; you're responsible for meeting your state's rules.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of KidUniversity. Our total liability for any claim about KidUniversity is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for KidUniversity in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, please contact us at support@kiduniversity.net so we can try to fix the problem informally. Any dispute that can't be resolved that way will be decided in the state or federal courts located in South Carolina, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. You keep any rights you have under consumer-protection laws.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above, and for important changes we'll tell parents in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using KidUniversity after changes take effect, you accept the updated terms; if you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
14. General
These terms and our privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about KidUniversity. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part right away, we haven't given up the right to do so later. You can't transfer your account or these terms to someone else; we may transfer them if KidUniversity changes hands, and we'll tell you if that happens. These terms are also available en español; if the two versions differ, this English version controls.
